Advantages of solid perfume 

Solid Perfume comes in little containers - sometimes tins- and fit easily into a purse. It is a lot like lip balm. You take a little out with your finger and apply it.

 The main reason I like solid perfume is that: it's just cool and it doesn't break. I'm a big-time klutz and tend to knock over bottles, throw my bag around with breakable stuff in it, and general knuck le-headed things like that.

I wouldn't dare put any kind of glass bottle full of liquid in my bag, but I wouldn't have any fear for a tin of solid perfume.
